Dare to Speak English B1 – Course start Thursday 29th September

Homework from Lesson 2

What’s your favourite English word? Read about the Oxford word of the year, and tell us what you think of the vote. Do you have an “inner goblin”? (I do!) – Oxford word of the year 2022 revealed as ‘goblin mode’

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and come back and tell us  what you did. See you on 12th January!.

Lesson 1 of the extension course (1/12)

  • I’ve emailed you the questions for next week.
  • We talked about festivals last lesson. Next lesson, please do come prepared to talk for two minutes about a festival or celebration that you have experienced from another country. You can present it to the group.

Lesson 7:

  • Read through the questions on Travel that I handed out last night.
  • Listen to a song of your choice on: LyricsTraining
  • Choose something from Six Minute English
  • Bring in a favourite photo from a holiday you have been on

Homework from Lesson 6:

  • Choose something you own that is sentimental to you and either take a photo of it, or bring it to class. What is the story behind it?
  • We will continue with the questions on Health and Lifestyle next week, so please do read through them again.
  • Choose something from Six Minute English to talk about next lesson, preferably on the subject of health (but it’s not a must!) . I would suggest this one: Why laughter is the best medicine

Homework from Lesson 5:

  • I’ve emailed you the questions for the next lesson on the subject of health and lifestyle.
  • Please do go to Six Minute English and choose something to watch and let us know about it next week.
  • Here is the link to Right Move, so please choose yourselves somewhere to live 😊 https://www.rightmove.co.uk/

Homework from Lesson 4:

  • Read through the worksheet on “Home” (emailed)
  • Choose something to listen to from 6 Minute English that interests you. Since it is Halloween very shortly, I would suggest that one to start with, and we can have a short discussion next week. The transcript is included.
  • Challenge for the week: Do something new, that you’ve never tried before and tell us about it next lesson!

Homework from Lesson 3:

  • Read through the worksheet on Money (this was emailed to you after lesson 2)
  • Choose an article or programme that interests you from one of the sites below, and be ready to talk about it next time we meet.
  • BBC Business Daily
  • BBC Learning English Lingohack – you can read and listen to the news articles at the same time, and there is a useful glossary of terms
  • Do something that makes you happy and come and tell us about it 🙂
