James loves meeting new people and going out for a drink. He’s very sociable.

I keep myself to myself. I can be quite unsociable/solitary sometimes.

When my housemate turned 18, her parents bought her a six-week trip to the States.  It was a very expensive/generous present.

Her parents were very generous.

Last year there was a 40-degree heatwave in the south of Spain. It was unbearable!   (= unusually hot)
