Ladies and gentlemen you are invited to meet with me and others to chat informally in English on November 24 18.00-19:30.
This is a great (free!) opportunity to meet with others who are studying English and chat in an informal way over a coffee.
Our language café will take place on the lower ground floor beside the Foluniversitetet café where you are welcome to buy coffee and a snack. During the evening you will sit in small groups and practise your spoken English and chat about everyday general topics.
To take part, your English should be at least B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages which means that you should be able to understand a lot in normal everyday situations even if you sometimes have to ask people to repeat or clarify what they said. You should also be able to express yourself simply and clearly in discussions with friends and acquaintances.
Our language café is free of charge and arranged by Folkuniversitetet. Please feel free to tell others who may interested.

Språkcafé 24 november – engelska
Välkommen till vårt Språkcafé engelska tisdagen den 24 november klockan 18.00-19:30.
Welcome to our Language Café on Tuesday 24 November from 18.00 – 19.00 where you can practise your spoken English. See below for more information in English.
This Thursday why not pay a visit to the Folkuniversitetet language cafe 18:00-20:00.

When I asked students to write about someone they admired one wrote about Malala Yousafzai. Here her father talks movingly about not only his daughter and family, but also about certain universal truths…
In this short (4.24 mins) talk TED speaker Jay Walker talks about mania and the world’s thirst for English.

This came up in conversation in class. People cannot get away from their emails or their ‘online life’, here the blunt but honest Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times ponders the email problem…
We need new excuses for not replying to emails
You will find areas of the podcast difficult, however you can always pause and listen again should you need to.
Today we discussed certain characteristics that people possess. From sharp to dull, sociable to pessimistic– we spoke about ourselves, friends, famous people and qualities we most value in people.
In class ‘kindness’ was mentioned several times, it reminded me of this dramatic speech made during Charlie Chaplin’s ‘The Great Dictator’. I hope you enjoy it.
I was pleased to welcome you all to the first of our B2 level English Conversation and Vocabulary course classes. During the class we introduced ourselves and discussed the aims and expectations we each had of the course. We also talked about ways in which we can study outside of class time and the topics we hope to cover during the course. I was please to discover that several students showed an interest in homework and extended study.
Please do not forget to visit the the homework 😉
